Someone once said…
“I always stay at the Ceilidh Place because it’s the only bookshop I know that has rooms”.
It began in 1980 with a shelf of books in the lobby and grew topsy-like to priority space in the front of the building. A stunning collection makes the shop one of the best of the small independent shops around. It hosts an eclectic mix of titles suitable for all ages and interests covering everything from fiction to children’s books, art, history, music, poetry, politics, natural history, travel writing and biography. Customers tell us that they find books here that they could not find anywhere else. The promotion of Scottish literature in particular is one of its strengths. All subject areas are constantly updated with the latest publications. The shop staff offer a high level of personal service and will be happy to advise you whether you are looking for a gift, a book on a particular subject or simply a good read. They are experienced at searching for unusual titles and will be delighted to supply books anywhere in the world. Bring your book tokens and enjoy.

The walls of the ‘green room’ and the café/bar are used as the gallery. Artists hang their work here throughout the year and the exhibitions change every five or six weeks. We are proud to have shown work by both young unknown and established artists. Original works of art are throughout the Ceilidh Place too in the public areas and the bedrooms.
